Description: For your consideration is a truly rare original religious piece: "Revelation of John; an Exposition" by P.W. Grant. Genuine original hardcover, first and only edition, 1889, inscribed with regards from the author, but by Reverand Douglas also from Inveraven Bank, Perth (Scotland), in what appears to say 1893. This is the only copy of this book I have seen personally, and after scouring the internet there are basically only modern reprints available. Quite the oddity, especially this side of the pond. This example is in "honest" condition with notable wear from use. The front and rear hinges have dried and cracked, with the front appearing to have been repaired at some point but still not perfect. The hinges hold well, but aesthetically it is noticable. On the exterior the spine has edgewear and minor sun fading. The boards are in good condition for the age with mostly rubbings on the edges. The binding is intact with no missing pages. The bookbinding thread has come a bit loose on the top in some pages in the middle of the book, but again for the age this is pretty common. I like to list all potentialy imperfections in detail if somebody cannot place their hands on the book in-person. Overall wear is about average for age and this book can safely be read without falling apart. No missing pages, no moisture damage, relatively clean text, and displays well on a vintage bookshelf. 636 pages, 5.5" x 8.25". The book itself is a rebuke of the way the Book of Revelation has been interpreted, and the author offers his own perspective. Being a man of the cloth and having written a few other religious texts, these are well-founded criticisms of the traditional interpretations.
