Stimson took scores of photographs that were featured in the 1892 publication, Appleton, Wisconsin, Illustrated. Writing on the front of the board says the photo was taken in 1880. NOTE: The address and street names we're providing are from the 1890s. Please keep in mind that Appleton made numerous changes to their street numbers and some street names in the early 1900s. Marston. According to the 1891 City Directory for Appleton, Joseph H. Marston owned J.H. Marston & Co., and was co-owner of Marston & Beveridge. His residence was listed at 771 Kimball. The photo measures 9 1/8" x 7 1/2" and is mounted to a 14" x 11" board that has two holes punched along the left edge. The photo is in very nice condition. The board has wear to the corners and edges, overall discoloration, and stains.
