Produced by This Exclusively Produced DVD (Not available in any shops or the high street) is in two parts, the first programme covers Fred Dibnah's life when he was working as a steeplejack around the Bolton area. The second programme is a resepectful and dignified film covering (never before seen on television) Fred Dibnah's unique Victorian style funeral with steam traction engines and full honours. 'Remembering Fred Dibnah' This film starts in 1991 with Fred Dibnah dropping the last red bricked chimney in Farnworth (just outside Fred's native Bolton). Fred said It's a beautiful chimney, it's a shame you cant pick them up and put them somewhere else. The programme was made back in the early days when Fred was still working as a Steeplejack, climbing up, and knocking down chimneys. The film was commissioned shortly after Fred's hit BBC 2 series A year with Fred, and has been digitally re-edited and mastered. This is the first commercial film that Fred Dibnah commissioned. Included is a previously unheard Fred Dibnah voice-over, where Fred talks us through the film in his own words, and in his unique and brilliant Lancastrian accent. Featuring Traction Engines, Steam Fairs, Fred Dibnah's famous Steam Roller Betsy, Chimney felling, Fred's famous yard and much more. Take a look before you buy at the official Fred Dibnah web site The Day That Bolton Stood Still - A Victorian Funeral with Steam. Fred Dibnah's funeral procession was one of the biggest events that the people of Bolton and Lancashire have ever seen. The town centre streets were lined three and four deep as this beloved - Son of Bolton - with his oily cap set proudly on top of his coffin, made its way through the streets, being pulled by his own recently restored and treasured Aveling and Porter colonial steam traction engine and uniquely decorated trailer. Fred Dibnah's final journey caused the town of Bolton to come to a complete standstill. Fred's Victorian funeral procession was one of the biggest and most amazing events that the people of Lancashire have ever seen. This unique film captures all aspects of Fred Dibnah's final journey and makes up for all that the television cameras failed to capture The film is a historic record of an extraordinary day. Narration is by Fred Dibnah's old and treasured friend Neil Carney. Neil Carney was asked by Fred (as a final request) shortly before he died if he would drive Fred Dibnah's Famous Steam Roller - Betsy - on the day of the funeral? Neil said that it would be an honour, and did his famous friend proud on the day. Take a look before you buy at the official Fred Dibnah web site Special Features: A short film of the official opening (by Fred Dibnah) of the Wetheriggs Steam Plant.
