Description: What is now generally called "prisoner art" probably isn't any more. Originally this folding or plaiting paper craft, related to origami, was made by people with time on their hands like prisoners. They practiced a recycling art using cigarette packs (unfiltered Camels were favored for the graphics) or gum wrappers. This red, white and blue example reused some kind of packaging; printed lettering can be seen in the small spaces between its folded elements. This indicates that it is likely not new, the material is still scrounged. The bottom has part of a magazine ad for PRADA picturing a handbag. I am including a Polish juice glass that fits the vase perfectly so it can be used for fresh flowers or anything in water. It is a handsome item and took many hours to produce. Plus, yeah, patriotic. It stands about 5" tall and 6" in diameter and is in perfect vintage condition. I do not sell or ship internationally! [Boston Primitive]
