RAÚL MARTÍNEZ is a renowned artist who works as a painter, draftsman, engraver, photographer, and graphic designer. He entered the Elementary School of Plastic Arts, attached to the San Alejandro School, in 1941 and completed his studies in 1943. In 1946, he enrolled at San Alejandro, but had to interrupt his studies in 1948 due to economic problems. In that same year, RAÚL MARTÍNEZ held his first solo exhibition in the lobby of the now-defunct Adad theater. In 1952, he applied for a scholarship and was accepted at the Institute of Design in Chicago, United States, an institution founded by Moholy Nagy. During his stay there, he was part of the group known as The Eleven and participated in numerous exhibitions with them, including the famous exhibition of Abstract Expressionism at the Habana Gallery. The following year, he presented the exhibition "Homages," where he began to move away from abstract expressionism and ventured into pop art through collage. From 1966, RAÚL MARTÍNEZ began to work on Marti's iconography, merging elements of popular painting and pop. His large-scale oil painting titled "Isla 70" was highlighted in his participation in Salon 70. Throughout his career, RAÚL MARTÍNEZ has participated in numerous exhibitions, both collective and individual, which have contributed to enriching his extensive artistic legacy. Ingresó en la Escuela Elemental de Artes Plásticas, anexa a la Escuela San Alejandro, en el año 1941 y culminó sus estudios en 1943. En 1946, se matriculó en San Alejandro, pero tuvo que interrumpir sus estudios en 1948 debido a problemas económicos. En ese mismo año, RAÚL MARTÍNEZ llevó a cabo su primera exposición personal en el vestíbulo del desaparecido teatro Adad. En 1952, solicitó una beca y fue aceptado en el Institute of Design de Chicago, Estados Unidos, institución fundada por Moholy Nagy. Durante su estancia en dicho lugar, formó parte del grupo conocido como Los Once y participó en numerosas exposiciones junto a ellos, incluyendo la célebre muestra de Expresionismo Abstracto en la Galería Habana.Al año siguiente, presentó la exhibición "Homenajes", donde comenzó a alejarse del expresionismo abstracto e incursionó en el arte pop a través del collage.
