Description: A very rare and fine example of a 1 piece War of 1812 to pre Civil War period Vermont Militia button. Albert's VT-2-A2. Backmark is blank with 2 concentric rings. Some of the original gilded finish actually remains on this button, which is hardly ever seen in this high condition state. Details that can be discerned on this button are seldom seen on other specimens. The button has a small "die break" at the "R". This was caused from using too much pressure when restamping a blank button. Restamping plain buttons with a design was a common practice in the early days of button manufacturing.
