Description: Rare 1976 Vintage Poster Custom-framed poster/enlarged cover of Saul Steinberg’s drawing for “The New Yorker” magazine, edition March 29, 1976, entitled, “A View of the World from 9th Avenue,” and declared by Rare Posters/Art Wise to be Steinburg’s most famous composition. “The New Yorker” covers are typically illustrated making some sort of statement (much like political cartoons), and this one from 1976 is depicting New York, tongue-in-cheek, as the “center” of the world. The poster itself is 40 1/4“ x 29“. Framed, it is approximately 2 1/2‘ x 3 1/2‘ or 30” x 42”. It was custom framed by Shirley Fox Studios (for fine art) in Atlanta. The frame is wood. My pictures show some “distress” of the frame—some wear, small paint spatter, slight chipping on some corners as a result of its ~45 year history. The frame structure itself is intact and sturdy. Could be painted, or you could replace with new. ***Wood and acrylic (plastic cover) frames on Amazon are selling from $143-$204 currently. This item can be purchased with the frame or, for $100 less, without. The frame would have to be busted apart to see if the poster is on foam board or is actually unattached and could be rolled. Poster itself appears to be in great condition. PLEASE SEE PICTURES TO DETERMINE if CONDITION (of either frame and/or poster) meets your requirements or message me with questions.
