RARE *Ungraded* 45 RPM 1968 Escape/Summertime The What Martinack Records 45-1001

Description: My Aunt gave me this copy of Escape/Summertime by The What back in 1968. Apparently, a friend of hers had a daughter who went to a concert in New Hampshire to see this local band called The What and she bought a couple of 45's on her way out. The What became legendary in the Manchester/Concord NH area and had only this one hit record in their short-lived career. A true One Hit Wonder! To the best of my knowledge, this is also the Only title released on the Martinack Label in existence. I doubt that it would have ever gained nation-wide visibility because of the obvious copyright infringement that it would have been subjected to because of the writing credit to Bob Dyllon; it is a rip-off of All Along The Watchtower for sure. You can easily find it on YouTube to check it out. What an Awesome Song though! The lead guitar on Escape is Mesmerizingly Beautiful. I was blown away by Escape as a 12-year-old boy back in 1968 and I still listen to it often on YouTube. In my opinion, the record is in Excellent Condition. There is No visible Ring Wear and there a few light scratches and contact marks visible. I am including the original plain paper sleeve that came with it as well. This Record is being sold in an Ungraded state. I feel that the record grading process is very subjective and opinionated. I would like the buyer to determine the grade that they think is appropriate based on the detailed photos in this listing.
