RARE PAIR JOSEF HOFFMANN MANNER FACETED AQUAMARINE BLUE APERITIF GLASSES c1920

Description: A stunning and delightful pair of glittering, paneled, faceted light blue aperitif shot glasses from the Gilded Age, attributed to Josef Hoffmann of Weiner Werkstätte. Unsigned. These substantial and beautiful little glasses have seen highly privileged use and over a century of loving curation. They are clearly individual studio creations, and the color is the clearest pale aquamarine. The aperatures are different in each glass, showing the element of chance in highly skilled crystal work by the master. Both glasses feature tiny bubbles in the glass, lending further authentication to their studio roots, and numerous tiny glass nips to the rocklike facets on the rim, base and the collars. These nips are difficult to discern with the naked eye, and difficult even to capture with the camera, while practically unnoticeable to the touch. The largest of these is about .25 cm., on the top rim, and is feebly pictured. One can imagine them being used ceremonially but decisively by powerful humans during important historical signing of decrees, meeting of agreements, just before a duel… Please see the photographs as part of the description and ask any questions you may have before purchasing.
