The burner is a No. 1 Adlams patent burner with a platform elevator feature. The platform holds a 1 5/8” lipped flange chimney with a set screw. Then there is a long, slim formed piece of brass that is called a slide, which elevates the platform with chimney up, back and away from the bottom of the main burner. That way the wick can be trimmed, or for lighting without having to remove the chimney. The patent information on the thumbwheel reads “Adlams Patent May 19, 1863”, along with stamped wings. The burner has 7/8” threads at the bottom and will securely fit into a No. 1 collar. The condition of the burner is Excellent Used. No dents, dings, splits, breaks or repairs. The burner is complete, all aspects of the burner work as they should, and the thumbwheel turns freely. A wonderful, rare Civil War Era burner to complete your lamp.
