Description: Rare signed and inscribed photograph of acclaimed organist and composer Marcel Dupre, inscribed and dated in his hand, “To Dr. Lucinda de Leftwich Templin with kindest regards, Marcel Dupre, November 8, 1946.” Leftwich was a distinguished educator and principal of the Radford School for Girls, El Paso TX – for 40 years and whose autograph collection is well recognized in the field of autograph collecting. Dupre’ (d. 1971) entered the Paris Conservatoire in 1904, where he studied piano with Louis Diemer and Lazare Levy; organ with Guilmant and Louis Vierne and Composition with Charles-Marie Widor. In 1914, Dupre won the Grand Prix de Rome for his cantata “Psyche’”. The beautiful photograph is notated with his name and vocation in print on bottom from the source original autograph collection of Lucinda de Leftwich Templin. 9.5 X 7. Very good condition with a barely noticeable, light horizontal crease through center of photograph, yet displays very well.
