Description: Rare Live Steam Beam Engine w/ Pump Large Scale Model, 10.5 inch flywheel WORKS. There is a tag on this unit marked "PPS Steam Models". They are no longer in business and most of the information I found was that they built model railroad steam locomotives and such. The unit is set up to run on compressed air and I tested it with air. It appears you can set this up with live steam as well. This model has a unique pump cylinder unit that functions. It has good suction. You can add external components to the unit for the pumping function. The plumbing is connected. The platform the engine is mounted on is 24x10 inches. It stands 19-1/2 inches tall. If I measured correctly, it has a 3-1/2 inch stroke (possible 3 inch). The beam and wheel are made of cast iron. The rest of the engine is made of steel and brass. It is mounted on a steel plate, which is then mounted to a wooden stand and finally the entire unit mounted on a wood platform. Weighs almost 45 pounds alone. Estimate 30 pounds for the crate. You can tell from the hardware used that this model was built many, many years ago. It's a beautiful machine and would make a great addition to any steam engine enthusiast collection. See pictures for best depiction of the models condition. There is oil remnants on the machine and patina has set in (which looks really cool). We did not do any polishing or major cleaning. Leaving it as is. It has been cared for maintained. It was oiled prior to starting it up. We take great care in packaging your order carefully to ensure it arrives to you safely.
