Description: Rare Large Uranium Green Glass Oil LampGlows Strong under UV Light Depression Era 1920/30s This is a rare Uranium Green Glass Oil Lamp. It has a nice round font, and near the bottom of the foot there is a lovely pattern running around the foot. It is clear glass, but it glows nice and strong under a back or UV light. The complete Oil lamp is 18 inches or 45.5cms high to the top of the flue. From the foot up to the top of the metal wick measures 11 & 1/4 inches or 28.5cm high. The base of the Oil Lamp 6 & 1/2 inches or 16.5cm in diameter. The flue measures 9 inches or 23cm high. The font measures 18 & 1/2 inches or 47cm in circumference. The Oil Lamp is in good condition for its age. There are some air bubbles and a few smooth mould lines in the glass which is typical for the glass making process in that era. The bottom of the Oil Lamp feels a little bit rough if you run your fingers over the bottom, but otherwise it is very good. Some of the mould lines are on the very bottom of the foot. The flue is in good condition. The winding part of the burner needs some lubrication so it will move easier, it is a bit tight. These Oil Lamps are getting scarce, you do not see them anymore, they are good if you run out of power. I have never used this Oil Lamp it has only been on display. These were made in the Depression era 1920's and 1930's and is nearly 100 years old. It glows strongly under a UV light. Have a look at all the photos to see the lovely colour and condition. You can see lines in some of the photos going down the font, these are join lines from the mould used to make the font, they are not cracks. I know what it is like to get broken items and feel bitterly disappointed when they are not wrapped properly. I will double box this lovely green uranium Oil Lamp to protect it, and make sure you get it in the same beautiful condition it is in now.
