Description: RARE I can't cope original Lou Stuart wood pop art 1950s late 1960s NYC Approximately 8 1/2" X 11"Acrylic painting on board."I can't cope" shows a stressed-out toad with the words. The wood grain shows through the wash and orange lettering and trim are vibrant to this day. There is some very minor wear and tear on the 60 to 70 years old piece. Created during the 1950s and 1960s, Lou Stuart's work often poked fun at the beatniks, peace and love generation, hippies, and flower children of that same time frame. His works are painted with acrylics on blocks of wood. He signed the pieces on the front -- mostly without dates -- and stamped the name of his gallery on the back of each piece. His gallery was located at 252 East 77th Street in New York City. Please see images to determine the value of this unique piece to your personal collection.
