Description: WELCOME FOLKSFrom our personal 35 year Restaurant Hotel Motel China Collection. Offering a Wonderful, Historical, Hotel Astor Fruit or Berry Bowl With Beautiful Art Nouveau Decoration Bottom marked;Buffalo China Nathan Straus & Son, New York Measures just over 5 1/4" across Superb Well Kept Condition! No cracks, chips nor breaks! slight signs of use Nothing serious. The black spot underside, seems to be from the kiln stilt? At the time this piece was used, John Jacob Astor IV was still alive. Mr. Astor, like many others, perished with the sinking of the Titanic in 1912 Just that fact alone, makes this piece a multi interest piece of history. A side note, John Jacob Astor was the Richest Man on the Titanic. And to top that tid bit of history, Mr. Nathan Straus also had ties to the famed Titanic. That history can be found on the NCSY dot ORG web-site. Over the years, we've realized, anything Astor is pretty scarce to find. At least with good historical items. It's rare to find early pieces that were actually within the walls of the famed Astor Hotel.
