Description: Rare Vintage Historic Los Angeles Hotel Lankershim Ashtray-Matches 1900's Posts. Very very rare handsome 3 3 /4 inch sturdy glass ASHTRAY with vibrant red lettering. In excellent condition, no chips, dings and only normal wear (after some 80 years of use,) on bottom. This is a treasure. Also very rare ( one sells for over $150.00,) a MATCHBOOK in excellent condition with cleae blue logo in front, and vibrant tropic scene in back with Driftwood Room bar logo and location as Seventh and Broadway. The spine shows the name of the then hotel operator Frank R. Wishon while the inside flap states location, room rates "no bargaining- no worry." And "Drive to door- attendant will park your car." This treasure trove also includes POSTCARD dated 1901 " out here on account of the telegraph strike.," POSTCARD dated 1908 "this is one of the largest hotel in Los Angeles.." undated POSTCARD showing interior of hotel AND actual newspaper ADVERTISEMENT showing a modern room. Completed in 1905 the posh hotel was located on the corner of 7th and Broadway, was nine stories high, had 300 rooms, two dining rooms and boasted of being within "a stones throw of Bullocks and Hamburgers Deartment stores as well as the Orpheum, and Majestic theaters." The Lankershim hotel was demolished in the 1980's due to damage caused by the 1971 Sylmar earthquake. A parking structure now sits at the location. I shop free priority asap
