Description: Rare Antique German Saxe-Weimar Model 1841 Bayonet with a interesting and different spring catch at the socket end and works with a large flat round tab. This also has a straight mortise cut on the left side of socket with a stop pin that sits on the same side at 7 o'clock. Triangular blade measures 16-3/8" long with socket length of 2-6/8". The inside socket diameter is .850". Metal shows a dark age patina, Left side, top of socket stamped, "90" also stamping behind the elbow, looks like "652". The ricasso area is stamped, "26". Left side of elbow and front of elbow show cartouches also. A very rare bayonet that pre-dates German unification and some that saw some use in the U.S. Civil War. Great for any serious collector of bayonets or for your Model 1841/43 Musket or your Model 1842 1852 or 1857 Rifle.
