Description: NB: Thanks to ebay dispensing with private sellers fees I am able to reduce the price of this previously listed watch as I will not have to pay almost 13% in fees. So collectors do buy it now as rarity should mean it is purchased quickly. If you are reading this you might already know just how rare this chronograph wrist watch is. Known as a flyback it houses a rare Landeron 47 calibre movement. It was a revolution both for the company and chronographs worldwide as it pioneered the cam actuation architecture which would make these complicated movements more efficient to manufacture, maintain and repair. It dispensed with the column wheel and used three buttons rather than the historic single or modern two-button operation. The Chronograph operation is started using the button at 2:00, stopped using the button at 4:00, and reset using a pusher located co-axial/in the centre of the crown at 3:00. This movement was the first iteration of this family of movements and 9 months later, was modified and renumbered as the Landeron 48 with the reset function being combined with the stop pusher at 4:00. Some parts were modified but with the exception of the minute-recorder jumper most are interchangeable. The case which is solid stainless steel (and not cheaply plated which most of that era were) measures 34mm in diameter excluding the crown and presents with well below the wear one would expect of a watch approaching 90 years old. It has minimal marks/scratches and I would describe it as in very good overall condition. The rear case is clean and tidy too and reads 30457 and s/224. So possibly a flyers/early aviator’s military watch. Unbelievably the mineral glass is the original as is the centre crown/pusher and reset pusher in the centre, the pushers above and below the crown are also original. Even better the dial is original and not repainted or restored in anyway. It is champagne/cream with a lovely patina and in good condition. The hands are original and blued and are in excellent condition. The Landeron 47 manual wind chronograph movement has just been completely stripped, cleaned, oiled and rebuilt and the service receipt will be enclosed/included: This cost £227 and was completed in June 2024. It also had an oil and calibration service in April of 2023. I have just replaced the straps you see in the picture gallery with a dark brown premium quality brown leather Nato Zulu strap as shown in the picture gallery. (sorry not the best quality shots as the others were taken by a professional). This is one for collectors or for a watch enthusiast and is really something very special and is fully serviced with a detailed service receipt which will accompany the sale. It keeps good time for a watch dating to 1937 and the chronograph also functions correctly, zeroing as it should. With all this in mind I will only take very close offers and low offers will be politely passed, thank you. It will be sent Royal Mail guaranteed next day delivery, tracked insured and signed for to the UK and via Ebay Global shipping other world locations.
