Rare c.1881 Prussian Officer's, Guard Infantry Sword & Scabbard by W.K&C Solingen Click images to enlarge Description Up for Consideration is a Beautiful c.1881 Prussian Pre-WWI Officer's,Guard Infantry Sword & Scabbard by W.K&C Solingen c1881-1900 Rare Pre-WWI, c.1881 Prussian officer, guard infantry Sword & Scabbard by W.K& C Solingen with screwed brass vessel, composed of cast and chased parts, gilded, rubbed. Conical, ten-edged, rounded pommel at the top, upper half of the pommel with ornamental leaf decoration, above it the large, unscrewable riveted pommel. The flat, octagonal handle bracket opens into the equally octagonal crossguard, a short crossguard arm ending in a large end bud. Stitch sheet consisting of kidney-shaped halves, quart-sided half can be opened. Handle with brass wire wrapping. Straight, inserted blade with shear (length 32 inches), helmet mark (W, K & C ) Solingen", the half of the base has an etched decoration consisting of trophies and symmetrically placed tendril ornaments. Black leather scabbard, brass set, mouth plate with long carrying hook, boots with location button. Total length: 38 inches without scabbard Condition Blade near perfect and tight, Gilt Brass is dirty but without damage. Leather Scabbard is solid with some loss of black lacquer and a bit of shrinkage . All in all a very Beautiful Example! An increasingly hard to find sword.
