Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a gorgeous antique Burmese glass Creamer and Sugar Set with matte finish made by the Mt. Washington Glass Company in the 1880's. Designed by Frederick Shirley, this single layer glass achieved a delicate coloration of pink or salmon shading to yellow by the addition of uranium oxide and gold to the original glass batch. This created a yellow opaque glass which upon reheating caused the color to change into a soft pink. The uranium in the glass also causes the vase to fluoresce brightly when exposed to black light. Burmese glass is highly collected and is also included in all major American Art Glass collections. This glass is rare today as it was very expensive to manufacture and was only made for a short period of time. this fabulous set is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Creamer measures 3 3/4" high, 3 3/4" wide and 2 3/4" deep. The sugar measures 2" high, 5 1/4" wide (at handles) and 3 1/4" in diameter.
