Description: This is a rare antique Dunlap Hammer, patented on June 6, 1876, with a patent number of 178279. Please see photos. Inventor CW Dunlap of Brooklyn, NY patented this hammer by strengthening the connection between the handle and the hammer-head using a tubular socket attached to the hammer- head by a rivet. This allows for stronger strikes. I’ve seen one other hammer like this. Note…this hammer used to have a nail puller on the other end. Otherwise, it is in great condition. Normal wear for its age and use. Hammer head is securely in tact. It measures 10” from end to end and the hammer head measures 3” across. This hammer is a great addition to any collection, especially for those interested in carpentry and woodworking tools. Rare find. Thanks for looking and offers are welcome.
