Description: This is an incredibly Rare brown wood Antique Child's Windsor Rocking Chair, made probably in the mid 19th century, by David Ginter of Lewisburg PA (Union County). The underside of the seat has a big, bold stamp "D GINTER LEWISBURG." The stamp is about 4.5" long. The chair is about 21" tall, and bout 12" in diameter at the seat, and about 13" deep at the seat. Each rocker is about 20.5" long. It weighs about 6.5 lbs. Internet research reveals David Ginter of Lewisburg (Union County) Pennsylvania was active from 1831 to 1893 in "Furniture and Undertaking". His furniture is exceedingly rare. Winterthur museum of Delaware has a signed child's chair by him, but theirs has a replaced arm and support. Has a crack repair on one curved rocker (see picture closeups) and and a crack on the inside of one of the legs (not visible when looking from the outside of chair), but still functions fine with no issues. Chair is nice and sturdy. I carefully examined this little rocker, and it appears ALL pieces are original with NO replacements. There is evidence of early (or original) green paint that I found on all the pieces. The chair is very sturdy and well made, with all the original "out of round" peg joints still present. Just a delightful and super rare little Windsor Rocker by David Ginter! A real survivor and testament to 19th century Pennsylvania furniture making craftsmanship!
