Description: This lovely pre-2006 specimen was from the Marovato Mine. This mine is now closed! No more items are coming out of it.Ocean Jasper only comes from Madagascar, and it was first introduced to the general public at the Tucson Gem Show in 2000. We purchased this specimen in 2002 in Tucson Gem Show and it was from the "1st vein" of Marovato Ocean Jasper. The Marovato Mine was the first mine, and it was basically at the oceans edge, and mining it could only be done at low tide. Some of the best colors of Ocean Jasper came out of this now closed mine because it has been mined out. Some of the best colors came from this mine. Then in 2002 there was more Ocean Jasper that was found further inland near the village of Kabamby. It is still surface mined over a 15 mile area. Kabamby Ocean Jasper has darker colors of Dark Green, Golden Yellow and sometimes Red (Rust) and White. We have had this item for over 20 years, and we are now wishing to downsize our collection. This Ocean Jasper 1st. vein core specimen has GREAT SPARKLE!Unfortunately, the photographs don't show how much sparkle this item has, but in person it is very nice. This core measures 48mm wide x 33mm deep x 45mm tall. Don't miss out on this wonderful item for your collection! For more information on Ocean Jasper go to: https://www.entertheearth.com/the-geology-varieties-and-history-of-ocean-jasper-part-one/ **I have done my very best to color balance the photos to match the item as close as possible. I have no control over how your monitor displays the items colors.
