Description: This is for the purchase of a single RARE 1976 RYOHEI TANAKA Signed Etching. Item in photos is actual item being purchased. Please message me with any questions. ***Borrowed from the Tanaka Ryohei Website Biography- Tanaka’s etchings are held in public collections in Asia, Great Britain and the United States, often in considerable numbers: The Museum of Fine Art Boston; the Brooklyn Museum; the Museum of Fine Arts , San Francisco; the Cincinnati Art Museum, Ohio; the Metropolitan Museum of Art , New York; the Cleveland Museum of Art, Ohio; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art ; the Indianapolis Museum of Art; the Singapore National Museum; the British Museum and many others.Largely self-taught, he developed an etching technique that is unmatched. Although he usually limited himself to one colour ink only ( black ) to print his etchings, he always managed to evoke a deep sense of poetry in them. The framing of the view in his work often reminds us of looking through a photographic lens, ranging from a wide angle lens to a tele lens. However he himself never worked from photographs but carefully composed his images from the numerous quick and striking pencil sketches done on the spot*** > Age- 1976> Artist- Ryohei Tanaka (1933-2019), Takatsuki, Osaka Japan> Title- Wooden Bell Hammer; TR 183 in Chris Van Otterloo's Book "Tanaka Ryohbei, Etchings of Rural Japan"> Copperplate Etching> Signed in pencil by artist bottom right> Signed in pencil bottom left as A.P. 3/10 (Rare Artist Proof)> Size- Print size is approximately 4.75" Wide x 6.25"Tall (Portrait)> Size- Framed size is Approximately 8.75" Wide x 10.25" Tall (Original frame tag reads "Distinctive Framing Kato Tokyo)> Condition- Pre-owned; Wonderfully cared for with expected frame marks from age and use but etching appears with no marks (See Photos) Shipping- Please understand that this will ship with additional packing and shipping materials to ensure no damage.
