Description: For sale is a ULTRA RARE 1927 Barnstorming Team photo of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. In this rarely seen image you have two of the hottest baseball players with their own teams in a heads-up promotional tournament. Fresh after beating the Pirates in the World Series Ruth & Gehrig would embark on a 20 city promotional tour to spread baseball west of St. Louis orchestrated by their Manager Christy Walsh, who was a marketing manager. Ruth had the "Bustin' Babes" while Gehrig led the "Larrupin' Lou's and as they travelled to each city they would pick up local players to join the teams so people had the opportunity to play baseball with their heroes. This was a great method to promote the sport while proceeds went to help local charities. This is one of two copies that I have encountered over the last 15 years with this being the "Standout Copy" and the other being in poor condition. This photo is not date stamped but was taken October 24th 1927 in Oakland, California and Credited to "MJ Cohen Studios". This photo has been Authenticated and Encapsulated by PSA DNA as a TYPE 1 Original Photo. This photo measures 6.5 x 9 inches and is in Excellent Condition. There is one very tiny hairline crease on this photo that is very tough to see unless you catch in on a angle. This is truly a gorgeous photo and the 2nd time that I have owned it. The fact that this photo was taken during their most important season with two of the highest demanded players in baseball makes this photo highly collectable. Their barnstorming items are so much tougher to get and when you do have the chance you should lock down the items.
