Description: RARE - 1862 QUEEN VICTORIA PROCLAMATION and SEAL - PRIVY COUNCIL APPOINTMENT - This large Royal Proclamation from Queen Victoria announces the appointment of JOHN FRASER MACQUEEN [1803-1881] to the Queen's Privy Council. The document is handwritten, dates to the 24th year of her reign which was 1862 and is in good general condition. The wax seal in the can, which accompanied the document, is damaged as you can see - it is 160 year old wax and didn't survive. The document measures 22" x 18" - it is signed on the front when folded - but this is largely illegible. The document has a seal and other additions which indicate its validity. I do not know much more about this piece but it is beautiful and genuine. Any questions will be answered.
