Description: Oil on board in an ornate giltwood frame, signed lower left R. A. Blakelock in an arrow. Ralph Blakelock (American, 1847-1919), Hudson River School. The painting depicts an atmospheric wooded landscape with hazy golden light in the center. The board measures 7 x 12, the overall framed dimensions are 15 x 19.There are 2 labels which are white with a shaped red border on the reverse.. These are identical to the label on a painting sold at Skinner Auctions 9/11/15 lot 345, Arizona Canyon, that also had the University of Nebraska Blakelock Inventory label (last 2 photos here are screenshots of these labels). The present painting was acquired at an estate sale from a family in Beverly Hills where there were numerous other artworks being sold. There was no paperwork available unfortunately, or information as to where the family acquired this picture so I am unable to guarantee authenticity.
