Description: This original Ration Kit comes in two pieces, the main piece that has the biscuits in it and a lid. Kit is unopened and sealed tin of Lifeboat rations from the Cunard RMS Queen Mary Ocean liner. The Queen Mary retired in 1967 in Long Beach CA. These tins were on board each of the lifeboats on the ship for passengers to use in the event of an emergency. The tin is stamped with the ship’s name, the steamship line, and various other details relating to the kit, including contents of 48 biscuits. The RMS (Royal Mail Ship) Queen Mary was constructed in Scotland for Cunard-White Star Line by shipbuilding firm John Brown & Company. On May 27, 1936, the Queen Mary departed from Southampton, England embarking on her maiden voyage, and The Queen Mary retired in Long Beach CA in 1967.
