Description: Prints WWII WASP Women Airforce Service Pilots-- Custom Art Print created using vintage photo and pilot memorabilia. Ann Tucker Dula, 1916-2005. Giclee print quality on coated matte paper. Prints with 1/4 inch border. Image used with permission from the Texas Women's University Official WASP archives. From 1942- 1944, during World War II, over a 1,000 women left homes and jobs to become the first women to fly for the U.S. military. They became the Women Airforce Service Pilots, the WASP, flying ferrying missions in the US. They were promised military status, but they were disbanded without benefits in 1944, and their records were sealed. The FLY GIRLS portraits celebrate the fearless women who defied gender stereotypes and whom history forgot. Each portrait combines vintage photos, artifacts, news headlines and digital art-- and they tell the story of the WASP. The original portraits are 30x40 and were created for an exhibition celebrating the WWII WASPS. The exhibition "FLY GIRLS" is in the Nashville airport from Oct 2023- Feb 2024, and will be at the Palm Springs Air Museum from Feb-April 2024.
