Description: This is a signed letter by Princess Maria Carolina Augusta of Bourbon-Two Sicilies (1822–1869). She also held the title Duchess of Aumale. She signed the letter using her life-long nickname "Lina ". She was a Princess of Bourbon-Two Sicilies by birth, and a princess of the House of Orléans through her marriage to Prince Henri d'Orléans, Duke of Aumale.He was the fifth son of the French king and queen,Louis-Philippe I and Maria Amalia of Naples and Sicily,who reigned over France from 1830 to 1848. (For more information on the princess, please check out the article about her in Wikipedia.) The letter is addressed to Countess Frances Waldegrave (1821–1879). PLEASE NOTE: this letter is written in French, except for the opening ("My Very Very dearest Frances"). The letter is handwritten in ink, on a sheet of stationery with Princess Maria Carolina's address handwritten at the top (Woodnorton). She and her husband were living in exile in England, due to the aftermath of the Revolution of 1848, whereby all potential claimants to the Throne of France were banished. Unfolded, the letter is about 7" by 9". The letter is dated November 13, 1863. The letter is signed by the princess at the bottom of the third page, usingher nickname "Lina".
