Description: Nice Heavy weight to this one! They carve these Paddle boards in Mexico out of whatever wood they have available at the time (usually Pine). NO two are ever exactly alike and none of them are "perfect" (they have carving marks, slight bows and small stress splits etc which we simply wax and buff to blend in with the surrounding patina) which is why I turn them into wall hangs that work beautifully as primitive kitchen accent pieces. When I get them they're VERY dirty and the wood is super dry. I go through and pick out the ones with the most character. I COULD sand down past all of the marks and old wood ripples to make them useable, but I actually PREFER the character of them as they are. So I clean each one up as best as possible and then I apply our aging wax and buff each to give them a wonderful warm finish. THEN I drill a hole in the handle and tie a loop of leather so that it can easily be hung right out of the box when you get it. This would NOT be suitable for displaying raw foods (like cheese, bread, etc) because the moisture in foods would eventually wear away the wax finish. They're also not suitable for use as cutting boards because (again) they've not been prepped (they haven't been cleaned to THAT extent) or planed (they wouldn't lay perfectly flat) for that kind of use. That's why we I sell them as primitive decor wall hangs. This one measures 19 5/8 inches long, 10 7/8 inches wide and it is about 1/2 inch thick. GOOD weight to this one at OVER TWO Pounds. It's a BEAUTY! The board you SEE is the EXACT one you will RECEIVE.
