Description: Primitive Shaker Ladderback Chair with turned wood finials is handmade, heirloom quality. Antique preowned item. Exact age is not known, but estimated to be approximately late 19th - early 20th century. Beautiful surface patina attributed to age, gentle use and storage only affirms this chair’s long life history. There is an old, tight crack at top of backrest on one side by finial. It does not detract from function or beauty. STURDY and SOLID hardwood. No wobble. All joinery is tight. It is smaller / lower profile sized with a lower than standard seat height of approximately 15”. While it is a slightly smaller scale than a standard dining chair, it is super strong and solid - and can comfortably and safely support a 200 lb adult. Comes from a clean, dry, smoke free environment. It has a newer, woven cord seat that is a traditional basket weave pattern and is in excellent sturdy condition with light wear. The seat on this chair has a slight angle that is slightly higher in the front and slants / tilts to the back. This is an original design characteristic.
