Description: For sale, a wonderful vintage probably late 1940s possibly early 1950s Primitive Folk Art all hand hooked wool rug in great used condition, never used on the floor rug. It was always used hanging or on a table top. A great old primitive original scene, the burlap backing is marked "Game Cocks" there are two large game cocks, fancy French Rooster's with lots of many other border design, oak leaves, berries etc... The scene is fun, quirky, great Folk Art style. Love the deep dark mustard yellow background color, the tails of the fancy Roosters are so colorful! The craftsmanship is wonderful, it is large size rug 45 inches x 35 inches. I have placed it on the floor in front of a couch and also in front of my blanket chest to show you the scale - size of this rug. (I never used it on the floor) Just displayed all these years. NEVER USED ON THE FLOOR! Placed it on my farm tables like a runner. I purchased this rug over 35 years ago at a estate sale in Lancaster county Pennsylvania. I have taken photos of the back, all hand stitched, finished corners, great craftsmanship. It is in great used condition, clean. Great size to hang (wall hanging) or use on table tops. These are getting harder and harder to find, love hand made items! I will be listing more vintage hand hooked primitive folk art rugs on ebay soon!
