The fifth Baronet served as a representative for Lincoln in Parliament. Elevated to the Peerage of Great Britain as Baron Monson of Burton in the County of Lincoln in 1728, he later took on the role of President of the Board of Trade. Lord Monson wed Lady Margaret, the youngest daughter of Lewis Watson, the 1st Earl of Rockingham.
