Description: Up for sale is a Pre-Columbian Guatemala Shaman Necklace Stone & Terracotta Face Beads Mayan!!! This is a VERY cool necklace artifact in the pre-columbian Mesoamerica style. It depicts a bunch of terracotta face beads separated by white stone beads and acorn tops on a string, with at the end a 1 Real (pronounced ray-al) Guatemalan Coin dated 1911. The exact cultural or age affiliation for this piece is unknown unfortunately, and this piece was purchased from a reputable antiques auction house from a pre-columbian specific auction that featured styles such as Veracruz, Colima, Nayarit, Mochica, Quimbaya, Chinesca, and Chimu artifacts that were specifically gathered for this auction. I will be listing a lot of these pieces over the next month or so. I am sure this piece is from Guatemala due to the coin at the end, as well as the acorn tops being from a Quercus benthamii (Oak Tree) which occurs pretty strictly in Guatemala (I studied horticulture in college, and am a HUGE plant nerd). The white beads are stone in nature, not plastic. Given that the string on this piece and the coin put it in the early 1900's, the terracotta face beads could potentially be much older but the piece was likely put together around that time. This particular piece is in excellent artifact condition, with minor chips throughout due to age that have softened with time and having no missing pieces. There are no visible repairs or cracks to this piece. The piece exhibits signs of age such as weathering and surface wear throughout that is consistent with other pre-columbian artifacts that I have seen in the past.
