Description: An incomplete female figure similar to those of the ChupĂcuaro culture centered in the Acámbaro Valley and Lerma River area of Guanajuato, Mexico, from about 600 BCE until about 200 CE.This example perhaps 200 BCE to 200 CE. Possibly Tlatilco. In good condition as an incomplete figure with detail that is superior to many examples. Priced as an incomplete figure. The Colima tradition is related to similar pre-colonial cultures found across the modern western Mexican states of Nayarit, Jalisco, and Colima that all share some distinct material culture with other areas of Mesoamerica. The ceramics of Colima represent a wider diversity of themes and shapes than those of Jalisco and Nayarit, but there is less variety in style. While much remains unknown regarding the Colima, increasing archeological analysis is allowing for a better understanding of the complexity of the culture. Figure measures just under 6 3/4 inches tall x 2 3/4 inches at hips, presented on a custom pedestal. 8 1/4 inches total height with pedestal. Weight with stand is 16 oz/1 lb. Acquired by us in a large lot of antiquities.
