Description: The tooling in this ad listing consists of items used in the reproduction of Pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 Firing Pins #7070. The three carbide-tipped horizontal mill cutters are 4" in diameter and have a 1 1/4" arbor bore. The three cutters are precision ground and are used on a horizontal milling machine to shape the striker-cam that is permanently attached to the back of the firing pin. The 7 3/16" long firing pin shafts are machined from (.290") "L" alloy steel drill rod. Once machined to specifications, the milled striker-cam is permanently locked onto the back of the firing pin after having been located and indexed into position with a holding jig, which is also included in this assortment of jigs and fixtures. The striker-cam is further locked into position and onto the back of the firing pin shaft with the peening of excess metal into a shallow broached 6-sided (hexagon) shaped cavity (at the back of the striker-cam). The 6-sided cavity is formed at the back of the striker-cam with a special broach used in conjunction with an Arbor Press. The broach is also included with this collection of tooling, jigs and fixtures. The machining of both the striker-cams and the firing pin shafts can be subcontracted to a production machine shop for simplicity. Once the 2 parts are completed, the assembly and finish work is relatively simple and can be completed by almost anyone with minimal shop skills, using the assembly jigs. The 3 carbide tipped mill cutters are the most expensive items in this collection and they have been precision ground to original Winchester specifications. The mill cutters are in excellent condition and they were obtained in the mid-1970s at a cost of over $1,000. All of the tooling, jigs and fixtures in this listing are priced at $500.
