Description: This is a small square Ironstone China plate by Powell & Bishop. Based on online research about this label, the plate appears to have been manufactured from 1867 to 1878. This may have been originally used to serve pats of butter. The plate is just over 4.25" across at the top. The base is 2.75" across. There is some slight rubbing in the gilded tea leaf design in the center of the plate, and there is significant wear to the gilded edges. There is crazing in the surface, and there are some spots where the glaze has chipped away. There are also some chips along the outer edge, and a couple on the sides.
