I opted for this one as it had a max weight of 400lbs and I'm a bigger girl. I'm 5'11, ~300lbs with most of that weight sitting hips & down. Unfortunately, I still brought in a lot of water to the kayak with any movement as the sides were compromised by my wide hips. I also was unable to use the foot divots as my legs were too long. It was a little tough on the back as well. I had a shorter friend of mine, the same weight just dispersed differently try it and there was no issue. I did end up returning for a traditional kayak. 23 Jun 20I really like it. The paddles could be better.Excellent boat, useless paddle. 8 May 20The previous reviews were very accurate. The boat itself is sturdy and buoyant and very quick to inflate - I would say a far better value than the price, exceeded my expectations. The paddle is practically useless - even knowing it was likely to break and going gently it was almost unusable. On our first adventure we found a paddle washed up (see pic)! Unfortunately same for the pump, very low quality, if you go gently you'll be fine, we cracked the cheap plastic on first use.Great for seniors! !! 30 Dec 19I love it a lot nicer then i expected, it was easy to fill and deflate, put the kayak back pack on and road on my bike to the river had a blast.Buying a spare to be sure I have this in future 26 Jul 19I bought this last year and its been one of the greatest items I ever owned. Very compact and easy to carry/store using pump to deflate. I can go to any lake , river or even the ocean if the current isn't strong. It is extremely stable for me and I'm 230 pounds. VERY EASY to get on by putting into shallow water and just sitting on the side. Sometimes it's harder to get off when I'm finished but I NEVER ended up falling into the water like I did with other inflatables. I'm always able to get on and off. It moves side to side when you paddle but I'm moving faster than I did in other inflatables. Its portable , easy to store , easy to use , goes fast and is easy to get on and off of. Very stable. Its been such a great purchase for me that I will buy at least 1 more out of fear that they may stop selling them. I've used it 20 times along with its pump / backpack and I would not want to use anything else.. I'm buying a spare.Outstanding boat 30 Jun 19I currently use this kayak for fishing. The oar lock fits a rod fairly well. Inflated quickly although the smaller valves could use some improvement. Sturdy, first use was at the beach, plowed through 1-2' breakers without folding like an accordion. stable and tracked ok on smoother open water. Backpack was functional, but purchased a 24x12" duffel bag which holds boat, pump, paddles and PFD for travel and storage (Ozark Trail Fishing Boat Bag SA-058229-1). Paddle may be the next upgrade.good quality, affortable 13 Sep 18I brought my kayak to a lake in Utah, just outside St. George where is water is calm. The kayak was perfect just to tool around and check out the senery. I wouldn't take this out on a river because its not weighted enough though. I loved it and took in every moment.For an old guy with a bad back... PERFECT! 3 Aug 18I've enjoyed kayaking in Cape Cod waters for years. After my 2nd spinal surgery at 72 years of age, lifting and manhandling a kayak became more of a problem than paddling one. The K1 is just a little over a third the weight of a cheap plastic 1 man kayak - so I gave it a try. It's not as fast as a smoother-bottomed plastic version, but it's remarkably stable, easy to carry to the water, and comfortable once I'm in it. In ocean waves, it's drier than a rigid kayak, too. Just let your knees bend as the wave hits your bow and the kayak will flex up and ride over. To get out easily, drift sideways to the beach and swivel your legs out until you feel the sand underfoot... your back to the waves. The next swell will lift the kayak under your butt and stand you upright. Use your paddle like a cane to steady yourself. I was afraid I wouldn't get to do this anymore but I'm a happy man, getting my strength back, covering over a mile at sea per outing.If you strap the K1 to your roof, run a line from the bow to the front hood of your car. Make a fat knot at the end. Pop the hood a little... stuff the knot inside and re-close the hood to hold the line fast. That way, unbeknownst to you, the whole front end of the kayak won't be bent up 90 degrees by the wind as you drive down the road. Two lines thrown across the kayak can be secured by closing your car doors over well-placed knots - and you have a simple, fast and secure rig for reasonably short trips without having to deflate the boat. It blows up remarkably fast if you prefer to flatten it and fold it up.Outstanding inflatable kayak 21 Jul 18My kids and I absolutely love this kayak- it's super easy to fold into its own backpack, and equally as simple to set up/inflate and be out on the water in a matter of minutes. It's stable once out on the water- my dog (30lbs) jumps off the front or side of it and I can hoist him back in all without "rocking the boat". I should have bought two of these! 20 Jun 18i bought this so I could try out kayaking-I'm 69 yrs old and didn't know how strenuous it would be or if I would even enjoy it. Also I couldn't see myself hoisting anything onto the roof of my car so needed something that would fit inside.I took it out this morning for the first time and I did enjoy it- once I figured out how to get on the darned thing, but getting dumped in the water twice was half the fun. Once on board, no problems. I didn't have a lot of problems with tracking-just have to paddle harder/more often on one side in wind or waves.I went on a weekday so as to avoid other boats and wakes which was a good idea especially since I'm a beginner.The Sevlor K1 served all the purposes for which it was purchased 1 May 18Just used my Sevylor last weekend and had a great time. We used it for two years in the summers, probably 10 or more weekends each summer, then we upgraded to hard kayaks. I am glad that we purchased these, they taught us how to kayak, and was much cheaper to learn that lesson than purchasing hard kayaks at the beginning. We didn't know if we'd like kayaking or not. Turned out we loved it. This kayak did not get a hole in it both summers we used it. It was used by myself, my husband, my 3 children, my sister and her children. They got a lot of use while camping at our area lake. For those in our position, not knowing if you like kayaking, this kayak is an excellent idea. Because they're actually harder to control than a hard kayak, you'll be in excellent control of your kayak if you upgrade to a hard kayak. That being said, the blow up kayak is not 'hard' to control at all. My youngest was 14 when he mastered this kayak and my nieces were 11, who were even able to stand on them and use them as a 'paddleboard' within a few hours of using them the first time. A word of advise for those who haven't kayaked before - Do not purchase an inexpensive paddle to go with this inflatable. Go to a brick and mortar store and purchase a $50 or more paddle, with a salesperson who can help you get the correct size for your arm length. We purchased cheap $30 paddles online (that aren't concave), and after using a fellow campers better quality paddles, learned that we'd wasted our money on the cheap ones.
