Description: This very unusually long plains Indian style warrior breast plate is made of bone, sinew, leather strips, brass beads, and is hung from a stick of sacred red willow cut in the spring in the appropriate manner and buffalo hide around one's neck. It is decorated with strips of buffalo fur, feathers and a medicine wheel painted with the four sacred colors of red, yellow, black and white. Effigies of a carved bone horse and a buffalo carved from a buffalo horn also decorate this fine piece of Native history. Historically, the maker wore this very long extended protection breastplate in battle and in ceremonials and would tie the long buffalo strip around his waist to keep it in place. I make this and other Native style items in honor of my Mohawk and Abenaki children and grandchildren. This is a ceremonial piece and the buyer should hang it on the wall in reverence of the way in which I made it. Although it is a facsimile, please respect its representation of real Native history. It is an accumulation of various parts and supplier that I use in my creations and this piece took about 1 1/2 months to make. Buy it now, $800. Free shipping and insurance.
