Description: This auction is for one pair of Mukluk / Boot liners set #2 from 1973-1974. They were originally issued to my Dad for use at McMurdo Station - The South Pole. His Antartic deployment occurred once each year for 1/2 the year. We were permanent party to Davisville/Quonset Point. Enough for provenance and authenticity. These liners were produced by the Onitsuka Corp in Japan. They are marked "12". They are quilted on the outside, and fleece on the inside. They have outside velcro closure around the ankle, and a nylon shoestring to tie around the ankle. Each bootie weighs over 7 ounces each! I have tried a stocking foot in one and they are substantially larger than my 10.5's. There are NO apparent holes or tears. Dad was the Transportation Officer and as such was on "Auto Issue" list. ...which means, He was receiving automatic clothing and new gear issue (every 6 mos) just because the CO is not allowed to look worse than any subordinate. That is why some of our offerings look as if they were stored in a archive by an Officer's wife. (cuz they were- my mom, lol) The 2-page document is my Dad's military evaluation from his command at McMurdo. It is to show authenticity to the listing - Copy of McMurdo eval is available to buyer if desired, included with purchase. Listing is for liners only. This was part of my parent's estate. Also known as midwestpj, I am Rick McCoy and my Dad is Ronald McCoy. My Dad served 42 years active duty in the US Army. After his second tour with MACV he did 2 tours at McMurdo on the ice.
