Pioneer SX-3700 Vintage Stereo Receiver 45WPC :: Full Restoration

Description: Great Unit from the Golden Era of Receivers! This listing is for a Pioneer SX-3700 vintage receiver featuring 45wpc. Every part of this unit has been gone over and restored by a professional technician. This unit is among the last from the 'Golden Era' of receivers. It features 'Fluroscan' & 'Quartz Lock' Technology: tuning bands, output meter & a digital frequency readout (in addition to a traditional analogue dial face) all backed by a quartz crystal oscillator makes this piece highly desired in many collections. Everything operates perfectly; there are a couple of minor cosmetic flaws (pictured), but nothing that's noticeable from 5 feet away. My father/uncle have been involved in this hobby since the 70s and I've sold ~10 of these units over the last couple years - all to happy customers. Summary of service & modifications: All electrolytic capacitors replaced on all boards. Main filter caps upgraded from 8200uF/50v to a pair of low ESR Rubycon 10,000uF/63v caps. Difference in sound & power is apparent.Power amp/protection boards featured obsolete driver transistors that have a bad reputation since new. Replaced with new transistor pairs that outperform the originals & will last another 40+ years.Protection relay rebuilt. Radio & equalizer boards rebuilt; AM/FM aligned; RF/IF.All lamps replaced with 'bright white' LED bulbs on the dial face: main dial face, six function buttons (Speaker A, B; FM/AM/AUX/Phono) as well the 'Quartz' & 'Stereo' lights (factory incandescent bulbs are dull, so the upgrade really makes the unit pop). Appropriate modifications made for a spec-correct upgrade. Original incandescent bulbs draw considerably more power vs LEDs. Most people simply swap the incandescent bulbs for LEDs, which will cause the LEDs to burn out within a few months. Mod was done correctly, replacing the factory low ohm resistors with 5.1kΩ resistors. Original 'wood look' vinyl wrap has been replaced with real wood walnut veneer and real wood walnut edge banding within the last 6 months.
