He stands holding the wheel of his sailing Yacht named after his wife “Mariette” I found a photo album containing several shots of the famed ship The Mariette designed by Nathanael Green Herreshoff. Built by Herreshoff Manufacturing Company and completed in 1916. The two masted Gaff Schooner was among the largest and most expensive private yachts built by HMCo. The ships design is based on a ship also designed by Herreshoff for Railroad Tycoon Harold S Vanderbilt. Jacob an avid yachtsmen paid $75,000.00 to have the ship commissioned. Jacob, A Boston based business man. President of the Wuskanut Mills. Member of Eastern & Boston Yacht Club. He skippered the Ship till 1927.
