EXCELLENT **FRESHLY SERVICED** For sale is a very nice PFAFF 1171 sewing machine Serial # 32704908, manufactured in West Germany The 1171 is a non-computerized mechanical stitch workhorse with built in IDT dual feed, needle stop up/down, low bobbin monitor and half speed button. You select stitches by pressing the button of the stitch desired. Stitch length is variable from 0-6mm and stitch width is controlled by the buttons. A decorative stitch wheel adds six more fancy stitches to the selection. It has over 50 stitches including basic, utility and stretch stitches. This is one of Pfaff's most popular models – smooth and reliable. This machine has been serviced and tested, and all functions work properly. Internals were cleaned, and re-oiled. (See photos taken during the cleaning process.) The upper tension disks were cleaned. The original bulb was replaced with a brighter LED bulb. Most folks don’t use it, but I was surprised to find that even the automatic needle threader still works. Last but not least, the plastic carrying case is also in superb condition. I’ve spent about 12 hours servicing and testing this Pfaff. I am not a thrift store reseller or auction house. Vintage sewing machines are my hobby – check out my other machines for sale on Ebay and my feedback. When I received this Pfaff the fancy stitches were not working. The cause was a sticky cam follower. The stitch mechanism (U-Z thumbwheel) was removed, cleaned, and lubricated. This machine now works as it should. Beware of other listings that say that their machine “runs fine” or “works” without showing any evidence of the work done or the internal condition of the machine. These Pfaff’s were manufactured in the 1980’s. They are a great design. But they are 40 years old and need to be serviced to ensure that they will continue to work well. You can “save” money by purchasing a machine with an unknown service history or one that has been minimally tested. But with repair shop rates of $80-$125/hour, your savings will disappear the first time you bring it in for service. But if you want to be assured of a trouble-free machine, this is the one you want. Keep in mind that this is a vintage machine. While it is in exceptional condition, it will have minor scratches and wear that have accumulated over the years. (I must say though that I’ve serviced quite a few vintage machines, and this is one of the CLEANEST I’ve seen.)
