Description: Anyone who's used Peter Callen's planes knows the quality from this Milwaukee based contemporary planemaker. This one is a smoother, or jack plane, made of beautiful birdseye maple with what looks like a spalted maple tote. Approximately 11 3/4" long, 2 1/4 in wide with a 1 3/4" wide cutter. About the size of a Stanley 5 1/4 junior jack plane. The tote looks like it may have been partially cracked and glued at some point, but it's hard to say - it feels rock solid. The wedge has an interesting wormy look (intentional I think), and there are a few spots in the interior corners where the finish is a little rough, but all the working . Pete Callen makes his own blades and they are really nice quality - I've had a few of them and use them regularly.
