Description: Rare coffee pot with lid in an infrequently seen, discontinued pattern by Pavillon Christofle of France. The pattern is called "Volubilis et Papillons", which, loosely translated, means "Vines and Butterflies." This pattern has a mottled coral pink colored band with thin green trim, and then multicolored butterflies and green leafy vines scattered on top of it, with a white ground. The porcelain is very thin and fine, and the pot is marked on the bottom with the manufacturer and pattern name, along with some writing by 19th century French author, George Sand. This pot measures 7 1/2" tall with the lid in place, 9" across from handle to spout. Both the pot and lid are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or utensil scratches; it appears unused. Porcelain in this pattern is usually only found at prominent estate auctions around the country, and I had the rare opportunity to purchase just a few pieces at a Gold Coast estate on Long Island recently. Please see my other listings for the other pieces.
