Description: Stunning antique circa 1900 heart shaped brooch/pendant, pavé prong set with tiny seed pearls over the entire face on a 14 karat gold structure. A pivoting pendant bail on the back swings down when wearing as a brooch - the brooch pin is not in gold but white metal (not stamped). Stamped '14K' inside on the back, as well it carries three stamps below the 14K mark - the far right an anchor, the other two are rubbed and hard to discern. Most likely a British piece - the anchor denoting the assay office in Birmingham. It was most likely stamped 14K when imported into North America. The piece has been acid tested to verify that it is truly 14 karat, except for the brooch pin as noted. Total weight as shown in the photos is 4.87 grams - some of the weight comes from the pearls and the white metal pin. It measures approximately 1" tall including the pendant bail, is 3/4" wide at the widest point of the heart. A fabulous sentimental piece from an age of romance. Condition Notes:No missing pearls, there is no damage to the structure, pin and clasp holding true, pivot on the pendant bail is moving freely.
