It had just been restored at the time I purchased. This fountain pen is a Parker Vacumatic. The color is "Emerald Pearl" which is a green and black striated body with gold filled trim. The plunger filling system works well and the 14K nib appears to be either "Extra Fine" or "Fine". The pen's length is 5 1/8". This is certainly a vintage fountain pen. My best guess is that this pen was manufactured in the 1940's. The imprint on the barrel shows a "9" so perhaps 1949 is the production year. I researched how to date these Parker 51 pens and this estimate on production period is just my "educated guess". There is no documentation of the production date. The imprint on the barrel is clear and I can read it using my magnifier. It reads "Geo S Parker - Parker Vacumatic - Made in USA - 9". I have included a magnified picture of the imprint, but unfortunately it's a bit fuzzy. To get prepared for this ebay listing, I tested the pen by filling with Sailor Yamadori ink and writing on a sheet of 68g Tomoe River paper. The photos for this listing show the writing examples in my rather poor handwriting! Please study these so that you will understand the line width that this nib produces. After making the writing examples, I cleaned and flushed the pen so it will be good to go when it arrives to its new home. Please study the photos for best description of product and condition. The wood pen display stand and ruler are not included. You would be purchasing only the fountain pen which would be placed in a pen sleeve and pen box for shipping. There is no original packaging or paperwork. I will include the original writing examples I made as well as the colorful pen sticker of a dragon and fountain pens.
