Description: The Paisley Long Shawl was inspired by the designs of the beautiful woven paisley shawls of the 19th century. It is an interpretation in lace of a long shawl dating from about 1820, and features original lace motifs of botehs (the small motifs filling the middle ground of the shawl) and larger paisley patterns. This is a garter stitch shawl with every row knit. The shawl is started from a provisional cast on at the middle and worked to one end. Then stitches are picked up from the provisional cast on and the shawl is worked to the other end, creating a symmetrical design, after which an optional fringe is added. Recommended for experienced lace knitters. Yarn requirement: 1,575 (5 oz.) yards of Jaggerspun Zephyr wool-silk yarn. Finished size: Approximately 29 inches wide and 77 inches long, after blocking and not including optional fringe. Shawl can be made shorter or longer by varying the repeats in the middle section. Needles: 3.5mm (US 4) or size needed to obtain gauge. We have Jaggerspun Zephyr in our store - check out our colors. We gladly combine orders. We appreciate your feedback!
