Description: A interesting pair of small busts approximatlly 8 " in hieght which I believe to be Staffordshire figurines reproduced from earlier works. It is claimed that these represent desendants and member children of the De Bourbon family . this may or may not be true ,however they were popular among the French royal families in the 1700s , along with portraits ,as photography wasn't available . Latter they were reproduced in many places . the Potschappel ,Carl Threme , Meissen ,German one produced late 1800 tend to be in th 9-10 in range and can sell for several thousand . These I believe were reproduced 1872 to1892 by John Bevington,Kensington Works, in Hanley, Staffordshire . He was a well known maker of novelty item and reproductions and used a hooked x mark which is faintly visable under the glaze of on of the figures . Normally he put a B under the legs of the hook X that is not noticable here. Regardless of who made them they are well done in the staffordshire tradition of this period .
